WHO: Allen County Regional Hospital
WHAT: American Red Cross Community Blood Drive
WHEN: 11:30 a.m. – 5:30 p.m. Thursday, March 1, 2018
WHERE: Allen County Regional Hospital, Conference Room, 3066 N. Kentucky, Iola, Kansas
WHY: Allen County Regional Hospital, the area’s premier healthcare resource, will host the American Red Cross for a Community Blood Drive. The Red Cross began supplying blood to Allen Country Regional Hospital a year ago and, by joining the Red Cross family, the critical access hospital is able to partner with other community hospitals to share a blood supply if an emergency arises.
“Collaborating with the Red Cross has many benefits, including the critical need of an ample blood supply available for trauma, blood replacement and other emergencies in a rural healthcare setting,” says Tony Thompson, FACHE, chief executive officer, Allen County Regional Hospital. “It’s also one of our priorities to meet the needs of all patients with personalized, coordinated and comprehensive care, making it easier when a blood transfusion is needed.”
The Central Plains Blood Services Region covering most of Kansas supplies blood to more than 100 hospitals.
How to donate blood
(1-800-733-2767) to make an appointment or for more information. All blood types are needed to ensure a reliable supply for patients. A blood donor card or driver’s license or two other forms of identification are required at check-in. High school students and other donors 18 years of age and younger also have to meet certain height and weight requirements.
Blood and platelet donors can save time at their next donation by using RapidPass® to complete their pre-donation reading and health history questionnaire online, on the day of their donation, before arriving at the blood drive.
