Cris Rivera, FACHE, has been appointed chief executive officer of Allen County Hospital, part of HCA Midwest Health System, Kansas City’s largest healthcare network, effective Nov. 1, 2011. An experienced hospital executive with expertise in leading rural hospitals and clinics, Rivera will lead Allen County Hospital’s efforts in building and opening a replacement hospital.
Since 2010, Rivera has served as the chief operating officer and chief ethics/compliance officer of Overland Park Regional Medical Center (OPRMC). In addition to her responsibility for the performance of the medical center’s ancillary and support departments, Rivera has been responsible for oversight of Overland Park Regional Medical Center’s design and construction projects. This includes oversight of the planning and pre-construction stages of a new private bed tower and Emergency Department expansion. From 2007 to 2010, Rivera served as chief executive officer of Savoy Medical Center, a 180-bed hospital in Mamou, La. During her tenure at Savoy, Rivera completed a $700,000 renovation project and opened a rural health clinic to include family, pediatric, and obstetrical services. She successfully recruited Family Practice, Surgery and Ob/Gyn physicians to this rural community and also developed an outreach program for specialty physicians including cardiology, ENT and orthopedic surgery.
“Cris’s experience in rural healthcare and hospital expansion and renovation will be a wonderful asset for the close-knit community surrounding Allen County Hospital,” says Steve Corbeil, president of HCA Midwest Health System. “We are thrilled to have her lead the hospital through historical milestones, including a new hospital management agreement and a new facility. She is fully committed to furthering HCA Midwest and Allen County Hospital’s commitment to its surrounding communities. These commitments include continued community involvement, investment in technology and medical innovation, and recruiting new physicians to expand the specialty medicine available in the community.”
“I look forward to being a part of the Allen County Hospital team’s continued drive to excel in quality care and service to the community,” says Rivera. “What we do here is important work in supporting the healthcare needs of the Allen County area. The physicians and staff work collaboratively to put patients at the center of all that they do and are dedicated to providing high-quality, compassionate care and support for patients.”
